The La Crosse board of park commissioners is taking a step it hopes might save a life. Members approved the placement of suicide prevention signs at Grandad Bluff. Social workers say it is common for police to receive calls from people threatening to jump from that spot on the city’s bluff trails. The signs will read “Your Life Matters” and include the number for 211 and the crisis text line. Health officials will also consider including similar signs on the Cass Street Bridge, but approval from the Department of Transportation would have to come first.
