A 25-year veteran of the Milwaukee Police Department has been named to serve as interim chief while the city looks for a replacement for Ed Flynn. Chief Flynn’s last day on the job is today (Friday) and Captain Alfonso Morales could be sworn-in today. He and Inspector Michael Brunson were finalists for the position and the Fire and Police Commission made its choice on a four-to-three vote. Morales is currently in charge of the Project Safe Neighborhood, High Value Target program. That is an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime by focusing resources on the worst gun offenders in Milwaukee.
