The congressman for Western Wisconsin is advocating for more federal rail inspectors.
Congressman Derrick Van Orden unveiled a plan that would spend $3,000,000 to hire 15 additional inspectors.
He claims that the key to preventing train derailments and obtaining information about them is having enough rail inspectors.
Van Orden claimed that one reason we still don’t know the cause of the derailment in DeSoto, Wisconsin back in April is a lack of inspectors.
