Most of the changes in Wisconsin’s proposed overhaul of its liquor laws won’t be apparent to consumers of beer, wine, or alcoholic beverages.
A proposal that is swiftly making its way through the Capitol would primarily affect businesses that produce or sell alcoholic beverages and is being hailed as a long-awaited agreement.
One of the biggest changes would be the creation of a new state government agency with the sole purpose of enforcing alcohol laws, which would prohibit establishments like beer-of-the-month clubs.
The biggest changes for consumers will occur at wedding barns that will need to obtain liquor licenses or at breweries and wineries that will finally be permitted to sell beverages that were not made by them.
Republicans, Democrats, and the alcohol industry are all on-board with the plan.
