A former Madison police officer faces charges for having a gun and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
According to Dodge County court records, Officer Dennis Sbertoli, 35, was involved in a car accident on Highway 19 back in May.
He admitted to having a loaded gun in his door and had the odor of alcohol, according to the deputies.
He was detained on suspicion of having a gun and OWI.
Three days after his arrest, Sbertoli announced his resignation from the Madison Police Department.
The court in Dodge County is still hearing his case.
