
A man is dead after a standoff and an officer-involved shooting in St. Croix County.
It happened Saturday night in the tiny town of Star Prairie. According to the sheriff’s office, a woman dialed 911 and reported that her husband was intoxicated and armed.
Deputies discovered a rifle when they arrived. After some discussion, according to the investigators, the man emerged from the home and uttered some threats.
At that point, the man was shot and killed by a St. Croix County deputy and a New Richmond police officer.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation while the deputy and the officer are on leave.
Nobody else was hurt.
