A domestic situation turned into a standoff with police last night.
Two Manitowoc Police Officers were sent to a residence in the 1200 block of South 31st Street on a report of a physical domestic altercation.
The officers arrived to find an unidentified individual walking up the driveway before they turned around and ran toward the backyard.
Yelling was heard between two people, and the two were separated.
That is when a 39-year-old man was seen running through the backyard.
He was followed by one of the officers, but he was able to get back into the home and lock the door.
Blood was seen on the back porch which prompted additional units to be called to the scene.
While police waited for a search warrant, the first officer on the scene spoke with the victim, who claimed the man police had chased was intoxicated, and that he had punched her “a few times”.
The victim then admitted to hitting him back in order to escape. Visible injuries were noted in the police report.
Medical units were called to the scene just in case as the warrant was finalized. When it was completed at around 8:45 p.m., officers stacked on the door, broke down the door using a battering ram, and took the man into custody.
The man was checked at a local hospital before being booked into the Manitowoc County Jail on charges of Battery with a Domestic Violence Enhancer, and two counts of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
