There will be further discussion this week about Wisconsin’s local governments receiving additional state funding.
The State Senate will discuss the proposed shared revenue system Tuesday.
The Republican-controlled Senate has a different strategy than the Republican-controlled Assembly, particularly with regard to the possibility of tax increases in Milwaukee and Milwaukee County.
Last week, Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said that all negotiations on his idea are over.
Devin LeMahieu, the majority leader in the Senate, said it’s unfortunate.
The leading Democrat in the Wisconsin Assembly wants the proposed proposal to undergo more revisions.
On Capital City Sunday, Minority Leader Greta Neubauer said that some of the budget constraints in the Assembly Republicans’ plan go too far.
Her main complaint is that the plan “micromanages” Milwaukee.
Although Neubauer and the Democrats at the State Capitol have made it known that they oppose the plan, they lack the necessary votes to do so.
