An area State Senator and Miss Wisconsin have joined in the fight to end violence against women.
Sen. Andre Jacque of De Pere and Miss Wisconsin Hollis Brown recently released a public service announcement supporting the End Violence Against Women International’s “Start By Believing” campaign.
Hollis has played a key role in End Violence Against Women International’s “Start By Believing” campaign, speaking about her assault in college, how it changed her life, and how she overcame it.
Sen. Jacque called her “a powerful voice who has focused her platform on survivor advocacy, and how to find strength after unimaginable trauma.”
Additionally, Hollis testified before a Senate committee in support of the Justice for Sexual Assault Survivors Act, which would prevent a future backlog of untested sexual assault kits that would deny justice to victims.
Sen. Jacque said the legislation (Senate Bill 43), would require the Wisconsin Department of Justice to test the sexual assault kit of a victim who consents to its analysis within 90 days of collection by law enforcement.
