The University of Wisconsin’s tuition freeze is no longer in effect, but state legislators still want some control over how high the cost of a UW degree can grow.
A Senate committee will vote on a proposal to link any future tuition hikes at the University of Washington to the consumer price index tomorrow.
The goal is to prevent excessive or rapid tuition increases by the UW Regents.
The idea was authorized earlier this year by the UW Regents and comes after lawmakers nearly ten years ago froze tuition at UW campuses.
