Two title contenders for the FRCC Boys Baseball crown met yesterday at Manitowoc’s Municipal Field with the Ships hosting Bay Port in a late regular season showdown.
The Pirates overcame a 1-nothing deficit by scoring 3 unearned runs in the 5th to grab a 3-to-1 victory.
Evan Deicher suffered the loss in relief of starter Brayden Steinbecker whose pitch count was high over the first four innings.
Meanwhile, Bay Port junior Ethan Plog limited the Ships to only an infield single and a hit batsmen, no walks and 10 strikeouts in a complete game effort.
Lincoln, now 15-and-3 overall, 12-and-3 in conference, is tied with De Pere atop the standings, and the Pirates are a half-game behind.
The Redbirds also lost to Ashwaubenon 8-2.
Following a non-conference game at Two Rivers this afternoon (May 16th), Manitowoc Lincoln and De Pere collide Thursday at Municipal Field to complete their suspended game which is tied at 2 apiece, followed by a 7-inning contest.
