The Majority Leader for the Wisconsin Senate says passing the governor’s plan for the troubled Lincoln Hills youth prison may have to wait until next legislative session to be completed. Republican Scott Fitzgerald says there may not be enough time to get the transition done by end of the current session next month. Governor Walker wants to close the facility in Irma, moving the most serious juvenile offenders to state-run prisons and having counties pay for housing the less violent inmates. Fitzgerald says time constraints may mean lawmakers can put the structure of the deal in place this session, then complete the plan next year.
