Milwaukee County’s conservative supervisor doesn’t want to spend local dollars on the Brewers’ ballpark.
On Monday, a county committee overwhelmingly rejected the notion of getting local support for repairing and maintaining American Family Field.
The county got trapped, according to Supervisor Steve Taylor, during talks on a new Bucks arena, and he doesn’t want that to happen again.
The Brewers require $300 million to maintain their ballpark up to date, and Republican lawmakers at the Capitol are demanding that Milwaukee and Milwaukee County pay at least a portion of that amount.
There is plenty of time, according to Taylor, to discuss a workable resolution.
