The struggles continue for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers as they fell in their series opener with the South Bend Cubs 10-1 at Fox Cities Stadium.
Starting pitcher Cameron Wagoner was chased off the mound before completing the first inning as he gave up seven runs on just four hits.
Luis Amaya came on in relief and allowed one more run over two and a third innings, Max Lazar gave up another in four innings of work, and Michele Vassalotti allowed the final run in the 8th inning.
Justin King closed out the game with a scoreless, two-strikeout 9th.
Offensively, Wisconsin’s 5 hits were split evenly among five batters, with Je’Von Ward knocking in the only run.
The Rattlers have now lost 11 of their last ten, including a sweep by the Peoria Chiefs last week.
The Rattlers again host the Cubs tonight with first pitch scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
Stivin Cruz will face off against Cade Horton.
