There are two new K9 officers in the Green Bay Police Department.
K9 Mattie and K9 Nox are both two years old, and bring the total number of four-legged officers in Green Bay up to five.
K9 Mattie, a Belgian Malinois, and K9 Nox, a German Shepard, spend three months training at a kennel in North Carolina and the last four weeks training with their handlers.
Employing new K9 officers is not cheap, and these two were purchased thanks to donations from the community and through the Bark ‘n Blue Foundation.
Additionally, Wisconsin Vest-A-Dog Inc has supplied ballistic vests for all five K9s in Green Bay, helping keep K9s Mattie, Nox, Puma, Pyro, and Roco safe on patrol.
