A hearing on Wisconsin’s new shared revenue plan is scheduled for today in the Capitol.
The specifics of the proposal, which could deliver up to $500 million to local governments across Wisconsin, will be discussed by an Assembly subcommittee.
Governor Tony Evers hasn’t expressed his opinion on the plan yet, and some of the details are still being worked out.
Wisconsin’s local governments have been requesting additional funding from the state for years, but the new proposal also has conditions and spending limits.
If Milwaukee and Milwaukee County want to receive more funding from the state, they must meet a number of standards.
