
The governor of Wisconsin is pointing out that he has a say in the decision to increase funding for local governments all around the state.
Tony Evers, the governor, said Tuesday that he hasn’t yet approved anything.
Last week, Assembly Republicans unveiled a proposal to send local governments an additional $500 million while allowing Milwaukee and Milwaukee County to increase their sales taxes.
But there are many conditions attached to the new money.
Whatever the lawmakers decide must be enacted by the governor.
Democrats in the Wisconsin state legislature support sending more funding to local governments, but they are wary of the conditions Assembly Republicans want to attach.
