A Menasha woman was arrested in Manitowoc after she allegedly broke into a car dealership and stole a vehicle.
According to police reports, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle without its lights on near the intersection of South 31st Street and Custer Street just after 3:45 Tuesday morning.
The 19-year-old female driver gave the officer a false name initially but eventually gave her real name.
She was handcuffed for a parole hold, and a search of her pockets uncovered several key fobs for vehicles.
The teen told police the car she was driving was purchased by her father that day, but a call to her mother revealed that to be a lie.
Her mother also noted that the suspect has a history of stealing vehicles and that she had been released from jail a week prior on a previous burglary conviction.
This particular car had been taken from the Van Horn dealership on Expo Drive.
An officer returned the vehicle to the dealership, where they found a broken window and a rock believed to be used to break the window.
The teen has been charged with Burglary to a Building, Obstructing an Officer, Operating a Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent, Criminal Damage to Property, and Felony Bail Jumping.
