Police in West Allis believe a young man struck and killed a young woman while speeding and under the influence.
According to police, Maryxa Zepeda, 18, lost her life Sunday shortly after midnight when the car she was traveling in jumped a red light and crashed.
Zepeda’s driver, an occupant of the Jeep he hit, and two individuals who were strolling on the sidewalk were all hurt in the collision.
The car’s driver was detained by West Allis Police on suspicion of homicide by impaired driving.
According to investigators, it appears that the car was speeding at the time.
