A Manitowoc man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly struck multiple vehicles while driving drunk and fleeing from police.
An officer was dispatched to Bills Auto on Calumet Avenue in Manitowoc at 2:45 p.m. Thursday on a report of a vehicle that had struck two other cars and had taken off.
While en route, the officer spotted the suspect vehicle and turned around to pull it over.
The driver took off at a high rate of speed, striking a third vehicle in the intersection of South 39th and Calumet.
The officer ended the chase but was later informed by another officer that the suspect vehicle was on South Rapids Road.
That officer pulled the vehicle over, and a high-risk traffic stop was conducted.
With both squads on the scene, the man was refusing to follow orders which led to him being tasered.
He was then handcuffed and taken to a local hospital for an evidentiary blood draw.
The 54-year-old man is facing charges of Fleeing or Eluding an Officer, Obstructing an Officer, Failure to Install an Ignition Interlock Device, Operating While Revoked, Hit and Run of an Occupied Vehicle, and his 9th OWI.
In his report, the officer called for a “significant cash bail”, calling the man’s actions “extremely dangerous” for himself, “the citizens of Manitowoc, and law enforcement.”
No injuries were reported in the incident.
