Investigators claim that two brothers and a sister were operating a handmade flashbang grenade distribution business out of their Kenosha County home when they were charged with federal crimes.
When Erik, James, and Melissa Kustales, as well as Melissa Simmons, were detained in March, federal authorities seized close to 300 explosive devices, more than 100 pounds of chemicals used to build explosives, dozens of firearms, including six unlicensed, fully automatic machine guns, and close to 20 pounds of marijuana.
According to the Justice Department, an informant cooperated with the investigation by helping them locate the three and buying many flashbangs from them.
All three are free on bail while they await trial.
