One of the ways the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is attempting to battle the fentanyl epidemic is through the use of fentanyl test strips, and they may soon be coming to Sheboygan County.
The idea is for there to be vending machines placed in areas where drug users can get one of the test strips.
They can then use the item to see if their drugs have been spiked with fentanyl, which is much more powerful than heroin or methamphetamine.
The DHS is accepting applications to receive the machines through April 21st, and the Sheboygan County Board’s Law Committee has been considering the idea.
The full board will discuss it during their April 18th meeting.
