Overdoses involving fentanyl-laced crack cocaine are being reported by Beloit police officials.
Five overdoses in the past week may have been caused by the synthetic opioid, according to the authorities.
According to the Madison Police Department’s Tom Coyne, fentanyl is typically added to heroin, but officers there are hearing that it is also being added to other street drugs.
According to Captain Christopher Eberhardt of the Beloit Police Department, cocaine users may be more likely to overdose on fentanyl because they do not typically carry Narcan, as many heroin users do now.
