Two Chicago men were arrested in Manitowoc County after they allegedly stole numerous checks and attempted to cash them.
The investigation into the crimes of Derrell J. Edwards and Dionta Bratcher began in December of 2022 when the Outagamie County Sheriff’s office received numerous complaints of mail theft.
The investigators say the duo stole over $500,000 from businesses in the Village of Greenville by taking checks out of the incoming and outgoing mail.
Those checks were later altered and cashed.
Edwards and Bratcher continued their thefts throughout the area and were finally caught on February 5th.
They were pulled over by a Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputy, who located 61 stolen checks in the vehicle.
Both men are facing numerous counts of Identity Theft, Obtaining Money or Credit, and are due back in Brown County Court on April 13th.
