Roncalli Middle School and the Treehouse Theater are teaming up to bring a statewide musical group to Manitowoc for a concert in April.
The Wisconsin Singers is a group that was founded in 1967 at UW Madison.
Abby Pritzl, the Executive Producer for the Wisconsin Singers told Seehafer News that this group is comprised of musicians that don’t major in music, but still have a passion for performing.
“We’ve got instrumentalists, we’ve got a full live band on stage with us. We’ve got singers and dancers, and we put it all into a 75-minute production that is fully costumed and fully choreographed,” she explained. “We try to have a little bit of something for everyone in our show.”
We were also able to speak with third-year drummer Austin Jent, who revealed that he debated on majoring in either music or Linguistics and Computer Science.
He said the Singers made that a much easier decision.
“I saw that it was going to let me play as much as I wanted to without having to major in it,” Jent explained.
First-year singer/dancer Abby Hoffman told us she loves the Wisconsin Singers.
“It’s really a great time for everyone involved,” she noted. “Having a group like the Wisconsin Singers was really helpful for me to incorporate into the campus.”
Roncalli Middle School Teacher Dan Beeres tells us that some of their students will even have an opportunity to share the stage with the singers and learn from them.
“At the start of the show, Treehouse Theater and Roncalli Middle School will each do about a 10-minute segment for opening acts,” he explained. “Earlier in the day, we also get to work with the Wisconsin Singers. They do a nice little clinic for our students.:
The show will be held at Roncalli High School in the fine arts center on Sunday, April 2nd.
Tickets are available on the event page on Facebook and will be sold at the door.
