The kind of hidden microphones that were put in place in Green Bay are currently the subject of a proposed law.
Green Bay state representatives David SteSteffen and Eric Wimberger introduced legislation Thursday that would specify when and how state and local officials can record individuals.
After the mayor of Green Bay secretly installed microphones inside city hall, the legislation comes into effect.
The microphones, according to the mayor, were legal and a part of a security system.
People would be required to be informed by the new law if their conversations are being recorded by cities, counties, or state governments.
