A new abortion law is being proposed by Republicans in the Wisconsin Assembly, but everyone else at the Capitol is saying, “No.”
A number of Republican lawmakers introduced legislation Wednesday that would allow abortions in rape or incest situations.
After Roe, the current law in Wisconsin only allows abortions when the mother’s life is in danger.
However, the plan won’t become law.
Democrats, including Governor Tony Evers, have stated that they will not consent to a law that does not completely restore access to abortion in the state.
In addition, the top Republican in the Wisconsin Senate has stated that he will not call a vote on the legislation in his chamber because he does not want to engage in political maneuvering regarding abortion.
