The concept of a statewide flat tax in Wisconsin is almost dead.
According to the Republicans in charge of writing the new state budget for Wisconsin, it is highly unlikely that they will advocate for a flat tax this year.
Yesterday, state Rep. Mark Born and state Senator Howard Marklein said that getting Wisconsin to a single income tax of three and a quarter percent is still their goal.
However, they say that Governor Evers has made it clear that he will veto the proposal.
Born claims that the new state budget will include a tax cut, but he did not specify how much it will be.
