
It is going to be an all EWC battle in the 195-pound weight class today at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Meet as Kiel’s Ben Kienbaum is squaring off with Two Rivers’ Chase Mathias.
This comes after Kienbaum picked up a 5-1 decision in the opening round yesterday.
Also picking up a win was fellow Raider Connor Faust who pinned his opponent in the 160-pound class.
Reedsville also had a pair of winners, with Carson Taddy advancing in the 152-pound weight class, and Adler Strenn in 195.
Also, Brillion’s Damon Schmidt earned a pinfall win in 220. Denmark had several competitors, who were all pushed to the consolation bracket.
Brett Soquet lost via technical fall in 126, Steven Kielpikowski lost via 9-02 decision in 138, and Cole Czarneski was pinned in 152.
Brillion’s Damon Schmidt was also ponned in 220, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah’s Trento Nicklaus lost via 12-5 decision in 132, and Mishicot’s Jacob Benfield lost via 9-2 decision in 152.
In the girls bracket, there are three wrestlers who have advanced to the semifinal round.
Manitowoc Lincoln’s Emjay Neumann picked up a pair of pinfall wins in 120 to advance, while Two Rivers’ Angie Bianchi won via pin, and a 6-2 decision in 114.
Fellow Ship Amellia Fowler was eliminated after being pinned in the 132-weight class, while Brillion’s Sophia Graff pinned two opponents in 132 to advance to the semis, which take place today at 7:00 p.m.
Sheboygan South wrestler Ellianna Robinson won her first match in 138 but lost via pin in her second.
Her teammate Ariya Yang was pinned in her first match in 107, while Sheboygan North competitor Destiney Duesterbeck lost her 185-pound match via pin.
Also losing via pin was Reedvsille’s Ellie Kasper in the 132-pound class.
