Two northern Wisconsin lawmakers are asking the governor to work out a deal between the Lac du Flambeau tribe and some of their neighbors.
The tribe has closed the roads leading to the neighbor’s houses and is demanding that the title company that built the roads pay the tribe some compensation.
Tribal leaders say the roads were built without permission and amount to trespassing.
The neighbors say they could leave, but say they wouldn’t be allowed back in.
The tribe says it is helping with groceries and medicine.
State Senator Mary Felzkowski and state Rep. Rob Swearingen yesterday both asked the governor to do what he can do.
The governor reportedly visited the tribe over the weekend, but the standoff continues.
