Plans for a new youth prison on Milwaukee’s north side took another step forward yesterday.
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson signed off on the project.
The new prison will replace the old and troubled Lincoln Hills facility.
There is still some opposition to the project in Milwaukee, whether it’s from people who don’t want a prison in their neighborhood or from people who don’t want to see young people locked up.
The state has a few more steps to take before construction can begin.
No one is guessing when that may happen.
