A woman and her dog are dead following a house fire in Sheboygan.
According to Sheboygan Fire Chief Eric Montellano, a passer-by noticed a porch was on fire in the 1300 block of South 17th Street at around 7:30 a.m. and called the Sheboygan County Emergency Communication Center.
Several Units responded to the blaze and battled the fire on the first floor of the residence.
A man who lived in the home met the fire crews outside but said he was unable to locate his wife.
The man was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital for further evaluation while crews searched for the woman.
She was found on the first floor, along with her dog, already deceased.
The cause of the fire is still not known at this time.
