A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for our area.
This warning will be in place through 6:00 Saturday morning.
Weatherology Meteorologist Derek Heit explains, “A Winter Storm Warning means a significant winter storm is ongoing or is expected to arrive soon. Winter storms can include a mix of winter weather types that can cause significant travel problems.”
But, it’s not just about the snow.
“Strong winds also accompany these storms, which can make travel even worse,” Heit explained. “Expect treacherous travel conditions. If you must venture out, always keep a winter survival kit in your car.”
These kits should include booster cables for your car’s battery, a portable shovel, a basic first aid kit, a cell phone charger, and warm winter clothing, just to name a few items.
