What has become a holiday tradition in the city of Manitowoc will return starting this weekend. The 2022 edition of Lights In Lincoln Park, a drive-through light show, starts the day after Thanksgiving on Friday. Doug Koch again leads the fundraiser for the Lincoln Park Zoological Society and tells Seehafer News the show is now in its 11th year. “It has expanded every year and encompasses about a mile through the naturally wooded area. So, it’s perfect for displays of wild animals. Last year, in spite of a lot of rainy weather and the Packers changing their schedule to Saturday a couple of times, we still ended up with over 11,000 people.”
Koch reminds us that the “Jolly old fellow himself”, Santa Claus, will be on hand every Friday night through December to visit with children and their families. “You come to the light show, just pull up to the cabin and walk in to enjoy free cookies, hot chocolate, candy and don’t forget your camera.”
Lights In Lincoln Park is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 5 to 8 p.m. between November 25th and December 10th. And then the zoo’s light display will be open every night during those hours starting December 15th through the ‘29th. The donation is $5.00 per carload, and Koch says a Fun Walk is scheduled for Friday, December 30th at a cost of $5.00 per person or $10.00 for a family.
New this year is an MPU Light Exchange on Friday, December 9th when utility customers can turn in three strands of their old incandescent lights for three strings of LED lights, outside the Lincoln Park Fieldhouse.
