
A Sheboygan family is grieving today after they lost their home and their pets in a weekend fire.
The Sheboygan County 911 Center received a report of a fire in the 1100 block of Alabama Avenue at around 1:45 p.m. Saturday.
Fire crews were sent to the home and found smoke coming from the structure.
The fire was located in a stairwell and was quickly extinguished.
While searching the home, crews located two dogs that had died due to smoke inhalation.
No other injuries were reported.
The residents in the upstairs apartment were displaced, but the residents in the lower unit were able to go back inside.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
