Notre Dame Academy was the Boys’ team champion and Xavier captured the Girls’ title Saturday in the WIAA Division-2 Cross Country Sectional at Deer Run Golf Course hosted by Brillion.
Both the Tritons and Hawks now advance to the State Meet at Wisconsin Rapids Saturday.
Individual state qualifiers among local and area girls included: Mikaela Helling of Two Rivers who finished 2nd overall in a time of 19:33.8, along with Hannah Downs of Plymouth and Holly Bley from Oostburg.
The Raiders of Coach Amy Gallagher placed 4th as a team.
The top-2 teams and first five runners not from those qualifiers move on to the Ridges Golf Course.
The Sheboygan Falls duo of Connor and Logan Murphy placed 1-2 in the boys’ 5k and qualify along with Matthew Wilterdink of Oostburg who was 7th overall.
Eli Gallagher of Two Rivers and Ethan Vander Meer of Kiel saw their season come to an end, despite finishing 13th and 16th respectively.
As a team, Kiel was 3rd and Two Rivers wound up 6th in the boys’ division.
