Carol M. Marks, age 80, a resident of Manitowoc, she passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Magnolia Meadows Assisted Living Facility in Manitowoc.
Carol was born on September 17, 1941 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Bernice Sommers Hassemer. Carol attended Washington High School in Two Rivers. She loved her job as a waitress and had been employed at the Elbow Room, Fox Hills Golf Resort, and the Lighthouse Inn. While being employed at Fox Hills Golf Resort, well known entertainer Bob Hope personally asked to have Carol waitress at his table. On May 18, 1973 she married Gene Marks in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in 1983. Carol enjoyed cooking, especially baking and she would enter her apple pie in the apple pie contest at Apple Fest in Two Rivers where she won first place many consecutive years. She enjoyed interior decorating and going to rummage sales. Carol had an eye for finding the right items to fit nicely in decorating her home to turn her home into a comfy and inviting home. She was known for her love of Pepsi and Elvis Presley. Carol loved spending time with her family and most importantly her grandchildren. She loved road trips and traveling with her gal pals, Bonnie, Clara and Peggy and they were known as the Cherry Sisters. They traveled all over the world together and you would recognize them by their matching cherry pins.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Melissa Marks, Two Rivers, daughter, Wendy Kelly, Bristolville, OH; ten grandchildren, Emmaline, Gretta, Cedric, Veda, Alexandrea, Ethan, Chloe, Glen, Quinlan, and Cordelia; one great grandson, Braxton; two sisters and one brother, Mary Ann Milo, Las Vegas, NV, Debra (Milton) Shimek, Brillion, and Ronald Hassemer, Green Bay; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Bernice Hassemer, husband, Gene, infant brother, Dale Allen, two sisters, Nancy Erdman and Sharon (Dennis) Berg.
Memorial services will be held 5 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Deacon Mark Knipp. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday from 3 p.m. until the time of services at 5 p.m. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
