Members of the Wisconsin Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee have approved a plan to allocate the initial $31 million payment from an opioid settlement.
The approval came after a news conference where Republicans on the committee criticized the original plan from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
JFC co-chair Mark Born called that plan a “fail” for the Evers administration, calling the plan “half-baked.”
The final version actually retained most of the DHS plan but shifted $3.75 million to law enforcement agencies.
