Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly pitched seven scoreless innings as Arizona blanked the Brewers Thursday night 5-0.
Christian Walker touched Milwaukee starter and loser Brandon Woodruff for a two-run homer in the first inning.
The Brewers were held to four hits in the loss.
The Diamondbacks won for the sixth time in their last seven games while Milwaukee dropped to 6.5 games behind St. Louis in the National League Central Division race.
They are also three games back in the Wild Card race.
Left-hander Eric Lauer starts against Arizona tonight (September 2nd) in the second game of the four-game weekend series.
