A 71-year-old Door County woman is dead following a hit-and-run.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday (August 27th) on County Road BB near Old Highway Road in the Town of Sevastopol.
It was determined that while she was walking on the side of the road, the woman had been struck by a 2013 Ford Escape which was traveling west on BB.
The vehicle left the roadway and became entangled in a wire fence.
The 43-year-old Sturgeon Bay man fled the scene on foot but was apprehended after a short pursuit.
The woman was pronounced dead at the Door County Medical Center shortly thereafter.
No names have been released at this time.
