A little over a month ago, the Manitowoc Public School District’s Board of Education approved the issuance of key fobs for all district buildings to members of the board.
The measure passed on a 5-2 vote, a decision on which the public had varying opinions.
The implementation of the policy will be discussed today by the MPSD’s Buildings and Grounds Committee.
They will be in the Board Room in the District Office at 4:30 p.m. They will also be looking over the District’s policies that relate to School Visitors (Policy 9150) and Facility Security (Policy 7440).
Board President Stacey Soeldner explained that those policies do not relate to the people with key fobs, as they are not considered “visitors”.
She said, “We need to follow the same procedure for those with fobs and the committee will explore this.”
Also on their agenda is a discussion related to the property located at South 8th and Columbus Streets, which is just north of Manitowoc Lincoln High School.
