A Door County man will be spending the rest of his life in prison for killing his wife in 1975.
86-year-old Richard Pierce was convicted of killing Carol Jean Pierce and disposing of her body and was sentenced on Friday (August 5th).
Authorities say Richard moved to Michigan shortly after Carol disappeared and had gotten a new girlfriend.
The date of his sentencing was significant as well.
During the sentencing, Carol’s brother Brian Fillion noted that she was killed on September 5th, 1975, making his sentencing exactly 46 years, and 11 months from the date of her death.
Richard did not make any comments during his sentencing hearing.
