In an attempt to beautify the city during the holiday season, the City of Manitowoc has announced that they will be spending $75,000 on decorations.
In a news release, Tourism Director Courtney Hansen said they are purchasing garland for the light poles, giant festive ornaments, and a 26-foot Christmas Tree which will be placed in the Burger Boat Park, adjacent to the Farmers Market Parking Lot.
Additional decorations will adorn the newly installed clock and bus stop in bright LED lights, garland, and bows, while the Badger sculpture on Quay Street will don a massive winter scarf.
These decorations are expected to last about 20-25 years and are seen as an investment in the downtown area.
Hansen said in the release, “It’s been exciting to work on this project with such an incredible group to dream up and bring to life holiday decorations that best accentuate our new downtown infrastructure.”
The first phase of decorations will be installed this November, with a second phase arriving in 2023.
