Plans are in place for the annual Valders Community Picnic this weekend.
The three-day collaborative effort by the Fire Department and the Lions Club takes place Friday night, Saturday and Sunday at Village Park.
Valders President Devan Schneider tells Seehafer News that Friday is Food Truck Night.
“We will have six different food trucks here, and then we have our modified truck and tracker pulls,” he explained. “Food trucks start at 4:00 and go ‘til 10:00, and then our modified pulls start at 7:00 p.m., and they last approximately three to three and a half hours as well.”
On Saturday, girls’ softball and peanut baseball tournaments will be held starting at 9:00 a.m., followed by a 3k and 5k Fun Run sponsored by the Viking Striders.
But, that’s just the start, according to Schneider.
“There’s a volleyball tournament going on [and] a cornhole tournament,” he said. “Anybody can sign up all the way until 11:30 on Saturday, and the tournament starts at noon. We have our horse pulls on Saturday. That starts at 11:00 a.m. Then, we have our modified truck and tractor pull again starting at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.”
Schneider also explained there’s live music in the Lions Pavilion Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. and again Saturday night between 8:00 and midnight.
Sunday is family day including a Car Show with registration starts at 8:00 a.m. in the park.
Schneider also told us that on Sunday, “We have our parade at 11:30, we have inflatables from Jake’s Jumpers for the kids on Sunday, the Valders Band plays for about a half an hour after the parade…kind of like a 5th quarter like the Badgers’ band.”
Following the parade, there’s a Farm Tractor Pull in the park at 1:00 p.m., food stands both Saturday and Sunday and new this year is something called “Cowpie Bingo”, set up in the outfield of the baseball diamond with six $1,000 dollar winners.
