Housing is a big topic of concern in Two Rivers.
The City Council held a work session meeting earlier this week, in which they discussed a few housing projects, and the Tax Incremental Financing Districts in which they are located.
City Manager Greg Buckley told us the first of these districts is TID 15, located at 3000 Forest Avenue.
“An Appleton area developer has proposed development of 45 units on new market-rate apartments,” he explained. “This development, we are still hopeful is going to go forward. We have encountered a delay over the last three months or so while there was a property issue being addressed, but we are hopeful to see that go forward.”
The Council also discussed a potential development agreement for TID 16, which would involve a Fox Valley development group that Buckley said is “proposing 50 units of market-rate apartment housing. That is on the former Eggers Plant site at 19th Street and the East Twin River.”
Buckley also informed Seehafer News that the City is working on the creation of TID 17.
He explained that TID 17 is located at the “old Eggers West Plant over on the West Twin River across from the Downtown. Scott Crawford Development of Milwaukee is proposing 55 units of affordable family housing.”
That proposal would require the construction of a new building.
Buckley said that he and the City leaders are “optimistic about seeing some housing activity” at the “priority redevelopment sites” in Two Rivers.
