Manitowoc will face De Pere late this afternoon in the semifinals of the State Triple-A American Legion Baseball Tournament in Sheboygan.
That’s after Legion Post 88 rallied to defeat Middleton 3-to-2 on a 7th inning bases-loaded RBI groundout by Reece Stangel that scored Alex Lensmeyer.
Later in the day, De Pere edged Fond du lac 2-to-1, setting the stage for today’s 4:30 p.m. matchup at Wildwood Park.
In the Manitowoc-Middleton contest, Lensmeyer paced the offensive attack by going 3-for-3 including a double and 3 runs scored.
Brandon Stephany went 1 for 4 with a pair of RBI’s.
On the mound, Jacob Gallagher earned the victory by scattering 7 hits and 2 earned runs with no walks and 4 strikeouts.
Manager Kevin Stangel’s team improved to 23 and 4 on the season.
