Kiel High School’s Brandon Stephany pitched a complete game 7 hitter while Roncalli’s Reece Stangel homered to lead the Manitowoc American Legion baseball team to an 8-3 win over Marinette last night.
The victory enabled Manager Kevin Stangel’s squad to reach the title game of the Marinette Regional Tournament this evening (July 22nd) at 5:00 p.m.
Stephany allowed 3 unearned runs during his route-going performance, during which he struck out 5 Marinette hitters.
With the score 4-3 Manitowoc in the 5th inning, Stangel’s 2-run homer gave the lakeshore area team some breathing room.
He went 2-3 at the plate, as did Lincoln’s Alex Lensmeyer.
Dan Schmitz of Kiel was 2-4 with 2 RBI.
Manitowoc takes a 21-4 season record into the championship game against Marinette, who toppled Green Bay 10-6.
