Residents and business owners in Two Rivers will soon see an increase in their monthly sewer rates.
The Two Rivers City Council met on Monday (July 18th) and they voted in favor of the flat $2.00 increase.
We spoke with City Manager Greg Buckley who explained this price hike would result in a 4.8% increase in revenue for the sewer utility.
He also said, “Frankly it is very necessary in order to pay for recent capital improvements at the wastewater plant and in the sewer collection system downtown.”
This price hike has been in the works for the past two years, but the Council postponed the implementation due to concerns that people wouldn’t be able to afford it during the pandemic.

The aforementioned capital projects were not entirely paid for by the utility.
“We have done a fair amount of borrowing for it at very favorable rates,” Buckley told Seehafer News. “In many cases [we] got 30% state and federal funding to offset the borrow.”
The new prices will go into effect on August 1st.
