One person died following a fiery crash last night (July 19th) in Door County.
According to Door County Chief Deputy Patrick McCarty, the Sheriff’s Office was informed of the crash on Heritage Lake Road near County Highway E in the Town of Egg Harbor just before 9:00 p.m.
Deputies as Egg Harbor firefighters arrived on the scene to find the truck completely engulfed in flames.
One occupant was laying outside of the vehicle, while another was already dead inside the truck.
The individual outside of the truck was transported to a hospital in Green Bay.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the truck was driving north on Heritage Lake Road when the driver lost control and entered the west ditch.
The truck then struck a tree and a utility pole before coming to rest and catching fire.
While the crash is still under investigation by the State Patrol’s Crash Reconstruction Unit, speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors.
