An incoming junior baseball standout at Manitowoc Lincoln High School has disclosed his future athletic plans.
Noah Wech made an announcement on Twitter last night that he will be continuing his athletic and academic career for the Cowboys of Oklahoma State University at Stillwater.
In announcing his college choice, Wech issued a statement thanking his family, friends and coaches.
Noah is a two-way performer for the Ships of Coach Bruce Steinbecker and was recently named Player-of-the-Year in the Fox River Classic Conference.
He has been a starting shortstop his first two years of high school and as a pitcher, his fastball has been clocked at 90 miles per hour.
During a conversation today with Seehafer News, Steinbecker said, “I know how much time and effort he’s putting in. He’s got a work ethic like no other, he’s obviously extremely skilled, a very talented baseball player. Everybody around this area knows about him, heavily recruited player with a lot of options.”
Noah’s Coach told us he spoke with him and “could tell he had excitement in his voice about Oklahoma State, everything from the facility to the coaches, to the academic plan…he just felt like that was the best fit.”
Coach Steinbecker said Wech’s club team, the GRB Rays, have helped him a lot along the way with his development and, in the recruiting process.
“At Lincoln, we support Noah as best we can, it’s pretty cool, collective effort,” he said. “To his credit, he reaches out in an effort to constantly get better at the sport and using all the resources around him, from his Ships coaches to GRB coaches, to his teammates, to just studying the game. I’m so proud, he deserves it, is an amazing player and only entering his junior year.”
The veteran Ships head baseball coach, who just completed his 20th season at the helm, added “The ceiling is just so high for this young man and I’m so proud of him.”
I am extremely honored and humbled to announce that I committed and will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Oklahoma State University. I’d like to thank my family, friends, and all the coaches at @GRBRays for making this possible. #gopokes🧡🖤@GRBRays @GregReinhard1 pic.twitter.com/QvfLpmm8F3
